The Pasco County Fair will provide fairgoers a touch of gospel music today and a chance to watch young people show and sell steers they raised.
The fourth day of the fair features Gospel Music Night, with performances by the Dixie Melody Boys and the Whisnants at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. The show in the Dan Cannon Auditorium is free with gate admission to the fair.
Meanwhile, at 7 p.m. the youth steer sale begins in the Albert A. Barthle Livestock Pavilion. Young people who have raised steers as projects for FFA, 4-H or other agricultural organizations will auction off the animals.
Although the students earn money when they sell the steers at the fair, they must invest their own money to get there. They buy the steers, feed them and care for them.
Today's fair schedule also includes comedy and magic shows, a grizzly bear show, racing pigs, carnival rides and plenty of food.
Fair highlights this weekend include a rodeo at 7 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday; the Miss Pasco County Pageant at 7 p.m. Saturday; and a demolition derby at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The fair continues through Sunday at the fairgrounds on State Road 52. Fair hours are 3 p.m. to midnight Friday; 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday; and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.
