PLANT CITY - The Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick competition came to Plant City on Sept. 29, with 53 local participants testing their skills.
Contestants were broken down into age groups of 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15. They were given one punt, pass and kick for distance, with adjustments made for accuracy.
Competition took place in and around the third week of play in the Plant City Recreation and Parks Department/Optimist Youth Flag Football program.
Taylor Edgemon won the 8-9 girls age group with a combined distance of 129 feet, 10 inches. Ciera Brown and Holly Shuff came in second and third, respectively. For the boys, Jake Bettis won by less than 6 feet combined over Steven Witchoskey, second, and Colton McNabb, third.
Cailyn Anderson won the 10-11 girls competition followed by Amber Harwell and Emily Anderson; Hunter Shuff, Kyle Cole and Jared Arnold were the top finishers for the boys.
In the 12-13 category, Kristen Wyckoff was the winner with Molly Coovert the runner-up for the girls. Jared Smith (219 feet, 7 inches) won the boys title with Jake Cole and Evan Storie placing right behind.
Cleyton Morris, whose distance of 241 feet, one inch was the best overall, won the 14-15 boys event with Jesse Rodarte coming in second and Jeffrey Hemphill third.
