PLANT CITY The monthly antique market conducted by the Historic Downtown Plant City Merchants and Business Association is expanding its scope and calendar.
In addition to antiques, beginning Aug. 9, the Saturday market will include arts and crafts, said Ed Hampson, one of the association's committee members.
"We did antiques for the past three years," and the popular market generated inquiries about adding arts and crafts, primarily from prospective vendors, explained Hampson. "Enough people asked and we got enough input, so we extended it to include arts and crafts," he said. "We have some crafters already signed up."
The market has traditionally started in October and run through March. The August start will better accommodate crafters selling seasonal items for the holidays, starting with Halloween, Hampson said.
The event, which also includes a green market, operates from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the second Saturday monthly, August through March, in the municipal parking lot at Reynolds and Palmer streets.
Applications and reservations for market space are now being accepted. Vendors can call Hampson at (813) 717-7731.
