An Antioch resident who has a 17-year-old with undiagnosed health problems is taking time to help a little girl who lost her mother in a September car accident.
Loretta Hart has organized a car and bike show from 4 to 8 p.m. April 25 at Woody's B-B-Q, 203 W. Alexander St. Oldies music donated by Music Etc., discounted food, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing will be a part of the event.
"All the money raised will go to a trust fund that has been set up for Summer Moll," Hart said. "Summer lost her mother in a car wreck on the Selmon Crosstown Expressway in Tampa, last year. She suffered severe injuries in the crash. Her hospital bills have exceeded $2 million. I just want to help."
Hart, 46, met Summer in an area hospital in January while visiting her daughter.
Summer, 5, was critically injured in a drunken-driving accident that killed her mother, Jennifer O'Boyle, the Florida Highway Patrol has said. Troopers say Cheryl Maria Riemann, 26, of Ruskin, smashed head-on into O'Boyle's vehicle while driving the wrong way on the expressway. Riemann is awaiting trial on DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide charges.
Summer needed casts on both arms, pins in both legs and a neck brace. She endured multiple operations at Tampa General Hospital and, in January, went home with her maternal grandparents.
