One boy cut another with scissors at Durant High School this morning, sheriff's and school officials said.
The injuries were not life-threatening, Hillsborough sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said, and the student was not taken to a hospital, according to Hillsborough school district spokeswoman Linda Cobbe.
The incident occurred during an altercation about 9:30 a.m. as students were changing classes, said Cobbe. Jimmy Ray Torres, 17, cut the other on the hand and head with the scissors, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokesman Larry McKinnon. Torres, will be charged with aggravated assault, according to McKinnon.
The school, at 4748 Cougar Path in Plant City, was placed on modified lockdown, in which students are allowed to move from class to class.
Parents are now coming to get students.
