PLANT CITY Espress Yourself Coffee 101 recently closed, but that doesn't mean the end to caffeine fixes downtown.
The Daily Grind & News will open next month in the same location, 101 E. J. Arden Mays Blvd.
Espress Yourself Coffee 101 was on the ground floor of a building that also houses FOCUS magazine. Mike and Dede Floyd, the owners of building and the magazine, have announced plans to open a new café with coffee and more.
The Daily Grind & News will also offer well-known national publications such as the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times as well as local publications such as The Tampa Tribune and the St. Petersburg Times. The café's interior is undergoing a makeover, and a new menu is planned with handy grab-and-go items and an assortment of pastries delivered fresh daily.
The bistro will still house "the finest coffee and tea products in the area," including a signature blend of coffee and tea, Mike Floyd said in a news release. To celebrate the town's heritage, the signature drinks at the café will include strawberry fruit tea, a strawberries and cream blended drink and a strawberry white mocha. The shop will also have a dressed-up interior and new furniture.
The Daily Grind & News' grand opening will be March 9, but there will be a soft opening one week earlier by invitation only. To obtain an invitation, e-mail café manager Carolyn Miller at Carolyn@dailygrindandnews.com. The café is also hiring, and resumes and can be e-mailed to the same address.
The café's hours will be from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
The café, which will be closed Sundays, will also offer free Wi-Fi and regular events.
