South Florida Baptist Hospital's annual Children's Health Fair will help keep kids healthy and offer a bit of fun.
The fair, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Arthur Boring building at the Florida Strawberry Festival grounds, will include a moon walk, rock climbing wall and more to keep the children entertained. But there's a deeper purpose, of course.
"The Children's Health Fair provides an opportunity for families with children to get a basic health check and provide them with information on resources that are available to them," said Heather Coats, South Florida Baptist Hospital's Community Health Program coordinator. "With a theme of 'Surf the Wave of Wellness,' the event will emphasize the importance of wellness and a healthy lifestyle."
The screenings will include blood pressure, height, weight, and scoliosis, hearing and vision screenings, among others.
Children also may register to win a bicycle donated by A.J.'s Bikes and Boards, Valrico, or a Wii donated by the Plant City Kiwanis Club. There will be free drinks and Marshall Middle School FFA will sell hot dogs and fruit as a fundraiser, hospital spokeswoman Beverly Littlejohn said.
This is the hospital's 16th annual Children's Health Fair, Littlejohn said.
Participating organizations include Florida Department of Citrus, Florida KidCare Outreach Project of Hillsborough County, Plant City Fire Rescue, Plant City Family YMCA, St. Joseph's Children's Hospital Child Advocacy and others.

The festival grounds are at 2202 W. Reynolds St.
