The city is looking for a company to fill a sinkhole that has closed a portion of Timberlane Drive, a main road through Walden Lake.
Bids are due 3 p.m. Feb. 17 from contractors interested in performing the work.
Plant City has been plagued with sinkholes since growers pumped millions of gallons of water to protect crops from freezing temperatures in early January.
At least three major roads have been affected, including Timberlane, Alexander Street and Kipling Court.
The southbound lanes of Timberlane are closed near Silverwood Drive; southbound traffic is being detoured.
Walden Lake is the city's largest subdivision, with more than 2,000 homes.
City Manager Greg Horwedel said the city will seek bids for the other closed roads in the near future.
He estimates it will cost $2 million to repair eight sinkholes on city property, not including $1 million needed for sinkhole-related work at a 500,000-galllon water tower off National Guard Drive. The tower has been drained.
The city has asked for financial help from state and federal governments. Horwedel said it doesn't seem likely that any help will be available, with the exception of repairs to Alexander, which is closed southbound just south of Interstate 4.
More than 80 sinkholes and depressions were reported in the Plant City and Dover area.
