Natalie Burgin, the new queen of the Florida Strawberry Festival, will be at four area supermarkets to promote a contest with a strawberry theme.
Burgin, 17, will be at the local Sweetbays next week to encourage shoppers to vote in Sweetbay's Sweet Kid contest. The contest invites first-graders at partner schools to submit drawings of strawberries for the chance to win a strawberry shortcake party for his or her class, a family four-pack of tickets to the strawberry festival and a $25 Sweetbay gift card.
The winner from each of the participating stores will be entered to win the grand prize, a ride on the Sweetbay float during a strawberry festival parade.
Shoppers can vote for their favorite drawing through March 1.
Burgin will be at these Sweetbays at the following times: 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, 205 W. Alexander St.; Plant City; 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, 507 S. Wheeler St., Plant City; 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, 705 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. West, Seffner; and 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, 16751 Fishhawk Blvd., Lithia.
Free shortcake samples will be served during her appearance, Sweetbay spokeswoman Meredith Holland said.
