Prepare your taste buds. It's Girl Scouts cookie time.
Girl Scouts of West Central Florida officially starts cookie season Friday throughout its eight-county jurisdiction of Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sumter counties.
Whichever your favorite Girl Scout Cookie - Thin Mints, Tagalongs or Samoas - the wait is over. Through late March, thousands of Girl Scouts will take orders on cookies including the new Thank You Berry Munch, with cranberries and white fudge chips.
Pre-orders continue through Jan. 29. Cookies will be delivered beginning Feb. 21.
Cookie booths go up beginning Feb. 26. Enthusiasts can then go to www.gswcf.org and search for a Girl Scout cookie booth by ZIP code.
The Girl Scouts are also continuing their Cookies From Home program. Donations of cookies through the program will go to troops serving overseas through a partnership with Support Our Troops.
Donations to the Cookies From Home program may be made directly through a Girl Scout or at www.gswcf.org through March 21.
Girl Scout cookies are the world's leading entrepreneurial program for girls, according to Girl Scouts of America. Through the program, girls practice useful life skills such as planning, decision-making and customer service.
