Kids' Day was a big success if you go by the number of children riding rides, eating hot dogs and ice cream, and having a good time March 6 at the Florida Strawberry Festival.
Charles Panachek, owner-operator of Belle City Amusements, midway operator at the festival, added a few more rides in the Kiddie Corral this year.
"This is a family-oriented festival and we wanted the little ones to have plenty of rides just suited for them," he said.
Youngsters had bumper cars, a Ferris wheel, a big slide, a train and mini-thrill rides to keep them and their parents occupied.
Kelly and Joshua Peak brought their 2-year-old, Jayna, and 10-month-old Jace, to the festival to enjoy the day.
"Jayna is having a great time," said Kelly Peak, who lives in Lakeland. "We come to the festival every year. We'll be visiting the kiddie section a lot as the years go by."
Cherie Miller, a Temple Terrace resident, took time to look over the art show exhibit in a building next to the Kiddie Corral.
"My husband and children are in line so I thought I would take a few minutes to look at the art," Miller said. "We come to the festival every year. But it is the first time for our children."
