Fitness center seeks to fight child obesity

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Local Anytime Fitness club owner Richard Ryan wants to do his part to fight obesity in children by encouraging fitness for their role models - adults.

He is offering 30-day memberships, free 30-minute personal training sessions and free 30-day access to online support via www.AnytimeHealth.com.

"Too much blame is being placed on the kids," Ryan said. "Adults need to step up and be better role models if we want our kids to be healthy. That's what this is all about."

The nationwide campaign features an organization called the Coalition of Angry Kids. The kids are "angry" because adults aren't doing enough to help children lead healthy lifestyles.

The fitness chain is making the offer to coincide with September, National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month.

To take advantage of the offer, stop by Anytime Fitness, 2402 James L. Redman Parkway, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
