Air Force Lt. Col. Brian Bailey may be stationed in a war zone, but you wouldn't know it looking at his office window.
Instead of concrete buildings and tents, Bailey's window features an inviting scene of palms tree on a white sandy beach.
He received the window film-scene for free from a company co-owned by Plant City High School graduate Robert Leesman, who wanted to help out troops by bringing a touch of the tropics to Afghanistan.
Bailey was willing to pay Create My Scene, but Bailey and his partner Ryan Swigler wouldn't accept anything more than thanks.
"We provided it to him free of charge as a donation in appreciation for (his) service to our country," Leesman said. "We take pride in our troops and appreciate their dedication and sacrifice."
Leesman and Swigler had not previously thought about using their products to lift the spirits of the troops.
The Stuart company's typical customers order window scenes to decorate homes or offices or to create better views or eliminate bad ones, Leesman said.
The realistic views of such picturesque scenes as mountains and beaches are printed on a non-sticky, static-cling film. Customers choose from pre-printed pictures or may upload their own photos.
To provide more pleasant views for more troops, Leesman and Swigler want to enlist the community's help.
Through the end of the year, Create My Scene will donate 25 percent of its revenues from orders from customers who use the promotional code, Troops, at online checkout. The money will be used to contribute a window scene for an active-duty soldier, Leesman said.
