Terry Williams, the senior vice president of the Pasco-Hernando Workforce Board, has submitted his resignation to members of the agency's board of directors.
According to attorney Al Torrence, who represents the agency, the board planned a special meeting tomorrow to consider firing both Williams and its Executive Director Lee Ellzey. Both were suspended following an investigation by the state into mismanagement at the workforce board.
The investigation by the Agency for Workforce Innovation's Inspector General's Office, found Williams gave the agency's copy machine to a friend who was running a for-profit business, and that Williams used his influence to get his father hired.
The IG found Ellzey approved a grant for training to a company owned by Board of Director Chairman Steve Jensen, against the recommendations of staff. The agency ended up paying the trainer more than $3,800 an hour, which the IG said was extraordinarily high.
Earlier this month, after the report was made public, the agency's board of directors immediately suspended Ellzey and Williams without pay and removed Jensen from office.
It plans to meet at 3 p.m. tomorrow in New Port Richey to determine whether to fire Ellzey.
