The purses of two Folsom Elementary School teachers were stolen, and Hillsborough County detectives are seeking the public's help identifying two people who spent more than $500 using the teachers' credit cards.
The purses were snatched between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the school, 9855 Harney Road in Thonotosassa.
The teachers share a second-floor classroom and say they stored their purses in a locked file cabinet and went to lunch with students. When they got back to their classroom, which hadn't been locked, they saw the file cabinet had been opened and their purses were missing, deputies say.
The credit cards were used at a Citgo station in east Hillsborough, a Shell station on County Line Road in Polk County, a liquor store in Lakeland, a food mart in Auburndale and a Publix in Winter Haven.
A black woman wearing glasses was captured on store cameras. She was wearing a black shirt, jeans, a light blue belt and gold jewelry on her hands and wrists.
A black man with glasses and a shaved head also was seen. He was wearing a white tank top, jeans and white sneakers.
