It's a perfect time for Andy Garcia to get hot.
The Florida Gulf Coast University commit scored a hat trick in the first half and Mike Moran added a goal and two assists as Land O' Lakes downed Class 3A-District 7 foe Wesley Chapel 5-1 Wednesday evening.
After missing two games due to suspension and a few more to injury, Garcia scored just 28 seconds into Wednesday's game, then at 5 minutes on a penalty kick. Nathan Dalton added his fourth goal in the 36th minute, and Garcia completed the hat trick on a Moran corner kick to give him 14 this season.
"(Garcia) seems ready to do a lot more," Gators coach Mark Pearson said. "He stepped up, but we had a lot of players play well. You want to see them play like that every night."
Wesley Chapel (7-6-4) got on the board with freshman Morgan Shepherd scoring his team-high 20th goal in the 54th minute. Moran added his goal about 10 minutes later.
The Gators' confidence is high, especially as host of the district tourney.
"Hosting is huge, but let's hope our guys will be up for playing at home for the first time in seven years," said Pearson, whose Gators are 14-2-2. "We're not getting ahead of our tough matches next week, so we'll take it from there and be ready when the tournament does start for us."
