Two people paid for a cab ride so a 16-year-old girl one met on Twitter would come have sex with them, but after she denied them sex, they stole her jewelry, Tampa police say.
On Wednesday, officers arrested Devontae "Vaughn" Deravil, 19, of Tampa.
On July 2, police say, they arrested the other suspect, 16-year-old Jarred Watkins.
Each faces a felony count of robbery with sudden snatching and force.
The girl and Watkins met on a Twitter party line, police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said. Watkins told her he would pay her cab bill if she came to Tampa to meet.
She agreed, bringing a male friend for security.
When the girl and her friend arrived, Deravil and Watkins only had $65 to pay for the cab, Davis said.
Deravil and Watkins directed the girl to a nearby location and told her they were going to have sex with her, but the girl refused, a police report states.
The girl's friend complained about what the suspects had asked, and Deravil punched the friend in the mouth, causing minor cuts, police say.
The victims tried running to a nearby convenience store so they could call police.
The suspects followed, and Watkins threatened the girl with violence if she didn't repay him for the ride by giving him her bracelet and necklace, the report states.
When police arrived, they suggested she should stay off the Twitter party line.
