A woman driving a commercial riding lawnmower died this morning after a semi-truck hit the lawnmower, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
The truck, owned by Pepin Distributors, was westbound on Big Bend Road in Riverview at 11:02 a.m. when it rear-ended the lawnmower near Summerfield Boulevard, deputies said.
The lawnmower caught fire and the operator, identified as Isabel Ojeda Ramos, 36, died at the scene.
The truck also caught fire, but the driver, Elvin Muriel, 37, was not injured, the report states.
Deputies are investigating whether the lawnmower was in the roadway or pulled out in front of the truck.
