Help Make Beautiful Music At Silver Scholarship Tea

HYDE PARK - The Friday Morning Musicale will have its Silver Scholarship Tea on Sunday.

The event will be at The Musicale Building, 809 Horatio St.; hosts are Virginia Rounds and Nancy Martin. At 2 p.m., musicale President Vivian Noriega and past presidents will serve tea and coffee while Patricia Ockert and Elaine L. Stupp provide music.

At 3 p.m., University of South Florida music student Nicole Estima will sing, accompanied by Allan Armstrong. They will be introduced by Cora Hueting.

Donations will be accepted to assist the organization's scholarship program. For details, call (813) 251-1990.

Community Leaders Named Cornerstones

WEST SHORE - Cornerstone Family Ministries recognized community leaders at its Cornerstone Celebration Banquet on Thursday at the Marriott Tampa Westshore.

Proceeds from the event benefit a scholarship fund for at-risk children at the Rosa Valdez and Cuscaden Early Intervention Centers, operated by Cornerstone.

The Cornerstones of our Lives winners were recognized for outstanding achievement in the categories of community, business, church, heritage and future.

The winners from Tampa were: state Rep. Faye Culp, R-Tampa; Chloe Coney and Frank Sanchez, Cornerstones of Community; Frazier Carraway, P.A., and Myers Wilson & Associates, Cornerstones of Business; Arnold Dexter, the Rev. George Walters and the Rev. Mickey Walters, Cornerstones of the Church; James Loper and Cathy Martin, Cornerstones of Heritage; and Jessica Lynn Lane and Victoria Scott, Cornerstones of the Future.

Tampa Woman's Club Offers Class On Iraq

BAYSHORE - The Tampa Woman's Club will offer a six-part class, "Between Iraq and a Hard Place - Expanded," taught by retired Gen. John Gary and retired Col. Mike Phenegar.

The class is from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, beginning Jan. 22, at the club, 2901 Bayshore Blvd. It is part of the University of South Florida's Learning in Retirement Program. The fee is $40, and information is available by calling (813) 974-5166.

Bayside West Group Set To Elect Officers

BAYSIDE WEST - Representatives of the Motta Group will give an update on the company's redevelopment plans for the Georgetown Apartments property at Tuesday's general meeting of the Bayside West Neighborhood Association.

The meeting at 7 p.m. will be in Friendship Hall at the Regency Cove Mobile Home Community, at Gandy and West Shore boulevards. The meeting also will include the election of officers.

Orchid Club Meeting Includes Talk, Sale

SEMINOLE HEIGHTS - Paul Storm of Meke Aloha Orchids will speak at Tuesday's meeting of the Tampa Orchid Club.

The 10 a.m. meeting, free to the public, will be at Seminole Garden Center, 5800 N. Central Ave. It will include a plant exchange and orchids and related items for sale.

Guide Dogs Topic At Women's Club

BEACH PARK - Bobby Newman, a member of the board of directors for Southeastern Guide Dogs, will be the guest at Friday's meeting of the Beach Park Women's Club.

Newman will accept a donation from the club and present a slide show about Southeastern's work. The meeting will be at the clubhouse, 801 S. West Shore Blvd.; social time is at 10:30 a.m., the meeting at 10:45 a.m. and lunch at noon.

Christine Acosta is the luncheon host with assistance from Gail Cimino, Carrie Werdine, Jo Ellen Archerd, Pat Colvard, Cindy Ruff and Lisa Either. Frances Hand is in charge of the guest book.

Krewe To Visit Tampa General

DAVIS ISLANDS - Members of the Grand Krewe De Libertalia will visit Tampa General Hospital on Friday to distribute beads to young patients unable to attend the Gasparilla Parade on Jan. 26.

Before the 1:30 p.m. TGH visit, they will visit Tinker Elementary School on MacDill Air Force Base at 9 a.m.

The krewe will sponsor children from the Tampa Bay Academy of Hope and the Boys & Girls Club of Tampa Bay on its float during today's Gasparilla Children's Parade.
