"Living the Mission" was the theme for Tampa Preparatory School's Terrapin Day on Feb. 25, as the student body participated in volunteerism and personal growth workshops.
The day began with an assembly featuring members of the Tampa Prep Alumni Association who spoke about their own service passions in the community.
Student service activities taking place throughout the day included volunteering for Rampello Downtown School, the Rotary Club campgrounds, A Brighter Community, America's Second Harvest, Lowry Park Zoo, Meals on Wheels and The Children's Home.
The senior class Ambassadors organized a carnival for young students at Graham Elementary School, and middle school students turned Tampa Prep's gym into a temporary food bank, packaging 50,000 meals for Kids Against Hunger.
A disaster tent, provided by the Rotary Club, displayed items that can be donated to victims of war and natural disaster who have lost their homes; and sixth-graders washed cars in the school parking lot with proceeds destined to pay for items needed by soldiers in Afghanistan.
Students also planted flowers and cleaned the school's butterfly garden.
Terrapin Day ended with a talent show.
