The Park Theatre on Lafayette Street -- today West Kennedy Boulevard -- opened in 1928 as a vaudeville/movie theater. During the 1940s it was operated by Paramount Pictures.
In 1962 the University of Tampa took over the theater, using it for live performances and renaming it the David Falk Theater. David Falk was a local businessman who served on the University of Tampa's board of trustees from 1948 until his death in 1960.
In this 1963 file photo the marquee of the newly renamed Falk Theater advertises a performance by José Molina's Bailes Españoles, a classical Spanish dance company. In the 2011 photo the marquee promotes the University of Tampa's Spring Dance Concert.
