NBC has pulled from tonight's schedule a "Fear Factor" episode featuring Tampa twins in which contestants were required to drink donkey semen.
A rerun of a previous episode, titled "Snake Bite," is now scheduled to air at 9 tonight, according to a NBC news release.
The episode, titled "Hee Haw Hee Haw," had come under controversy because of the stunt. Contestants were given the donkey fluid to drink, followed by a glass of urine.
Brynne and Claire Odioso, 22-year-old graduates of the Academy of Holy Names, were contestants on the episode, which was taped in September. Their father is Rick Odioso, a former public relations director with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
TMZ.com reported that NBC executives had several meetings in recent weeks to discuss whether to air the episode. Until Monday, the show had been slated to air.
The episode has sets of twins vying for $50,000. Other stunts included the contestants getting shocked while navigating a high-voltage obstacle course.
"Fear Factor" debuted in 2001 with contestants participating in gross or frightening stunts, such as sitting in a tub filled with roaches. Ratings eventually dwindled, and after a series of gimmicky installments, including Miss USA and military editions, "Fear Factor" was canceled in 2006.
Reruns had been airing to decent ratings on the horror cable channel Chiller, which is owned by NBC Universal. Network executives then approached executive producer Matt Kunitz about resurrecting the show for NBC.
