Skewered, Seared, Seriously Stuffed

TAMPA - Vegetarians would be wise to turn the page and move on to something else. Today's topic will interest only the carnivore.

Because eating meat, lots of meat, is what you do at Boizao Steakhouse, a lavish new restaurant featuring the churrasco-style cooking of Brazil.

Boizao not only offers a pampered, entertaining night of dining, it stocks you up for hibernation. Gaucho waiters wielding heavy skewers of beef, lamb, pork and chicken scurry nonstop, or espeto corridor, among the tables, slicing succulent cuts onto your plate until your belt busts. The restaurant serves five tons of meat each week.

Meat was overcooked. Steaks were not tender. Salad bar was boring. Need hot vegetables on food bar. Mashed potatoes bland. Bread boring. WAY OVERPRICED FOR QUALITY.

The Boizao is an absolutely wonderful place to eat. The salad bar was exceptional with a wide variety of vegetables. The meat absolutely excellant a sampling of each type is in order because each piece tastes better than the last, you will burst your buttons, its that good.

Absolutely loved it! Great quality much like the Fogo de Chão (fo-go dèe shoun) restuarants in Atlanta (Buckhead) and Beverly Hills, CA. if I had to compare. We are already planning our next visit.

I was thoroughly disappointed with the meat at Boizao - which is their specialty - the majority of selections were overcooked and tasteless. The salad bar was nice, in a buffet sort of way, but the 20% gratuity for a group of 4 was surprising, charged without consent; and we were amazed to find that they charged us for EACH diet coke that we drank. Refills are a luxury at the price of $70/head. I would NOT recommend this restaurant.
