Eight Plant City High School seniors were honored recently for their accomplishments, both in and outside the classroom.
The students were lauded by the Plant City Optimist Club during its annual Youth Appreciation Ceremony. The club has been presenting the awards to deserving students for nearly 50 years.
Principal Colleen Richardson and College and Career Counselor Sherrie Mueller introduced the students to the club during an Oct. 29 banquet.
"The Optimist Club is proud to recognize the efforts of these students," club President David Kinghorn said.
"The best part of it for me is to hear what all they are involved in. We always hear what's bad, but this is what's good."
All the recipients are National Honor Society members and rank highly in their upcoming graduating class.
