Yawn! Yet another feeble attempt by a Democratic talking point sheeple (Snowbyrd) to blame GWB for everything. Getting pretty lame and old with that regurgitation. In mere months the blame will be firmly with those who voted the Marxist into office and when they look around to blame GWB, they can simply look into their bathroom mirror to place blame for what will assuredly be bigger problems than they can ever to have pinned on the Republicans. Ball is in the Democrats court now, so show us. Michael Moore is nothing but a lard-butted loud mouth with the same agenda.

Hold on to your shorts folks, think things are rough... Schools are closing, the rich are richer, home towns are closing, Government has slacked with your money. They are worried that CEO's have private jets, hummm, Morgan/Stanley plans on giving your tax money in the form of 6.2 million dollars in Christmas bonus money. The Department of Energy formed in 1977 has spent 24.2 million dollars a year of our tax money to lesson our dependecy on foreign oil. Feel the love of our Government after 31 years.
Please folks it is time to take control of our Lobbying, ear marked Government. Please get your head out of your butts....

You are correct, starting with your first sentence. The auto industry is still losing money every month! You can not put a bandaid on a cancer spot and cure it. They must file chapter 11 and reorganize. Giving them money will not get them out of their losing contracts. Throwing good money after bad is not the answer & will cause more harm than good.

I'm not sure how to feel about the bailout. On the one hand I feel for the families that are depending on those jobs for their livelihood. On the other hand, the auto companies have acted like our current President, they have turned a deaf ear to what's happening around them and kept on building those gas hogging SUV's. People were telling/asking them to build more fuel efficient cars but they didn't listen and wanted to keep building high profit SUV's. Everyone here in America has added to the fire by acting as if they need one of these gas hogs. 20 years ago, families were just as large and yet no one ever had an SUV, now everyone thinks they can't survive without one.

I find a lot of these comments absolutely ridiculous. For someone that works at a large local Chevrolet dealership, I can say that Chevrolet has the most fuel efficient vehicles of any manufacturer. They have 9 vehicles that get over 30 MPG. Does everyone forget that Toyota makes the Tundra, Sequoia, LX460, Land Cruiser, Tacoma(all gas hogs). To allow General Motors to fail would be catastrophic to say the least. What most of you do not understand is that this is not like AIG and an all out bailout, but a low interest bridge loan. The fall out nationwide would be beyond anyones imagination and it would be felt in all of your pocketbooks. I do agree that the UAW has been nothing but a cancer for so many years, but you have to understand that the new UAW contract goes into effect late next year and will save GM almost 8-10 billion dollars a year. Everybody needs to get behind this and support an American icon. Remember the Impala, Bel Air, Camaro, Chevelle, Corvette, Nova, Corvair, Malibu and all the contributions to Nascar.

Unfortunately, your opinion is biased. I do feel very badly for the people that work for these companies and their families, but not for the CEO's. Chapter 11 is the answer. People continue to work, minus the contracts and other burdens that are dragging these companies down. Look what happened when Some airlines filed chapter 11 and have come back. That is what this law is for. Even when TWA filed and went out, we now have Southwest Airlines which is the most profitable airline out there. We cannot continue to write checks that we simply cannot cash.

Your argument unfortunately doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Flying an airline that is in Chapter 11 is different than buying a manufactured product that requires warranty work, service, support, financing and suppliers. When you fly you get to your destination and you are done with them. When you buy a car and keep it upwards of ten years it is an entirely different scenario. Hardly nobody will buy a vehicle from a company that is Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

As a side note, the only reason Southwest is profitable is because they hedge oil futures 8 years ago and bet against the market and they got lucky when oil prices soared. It wasn't because of bankruptcy protection.
