A new master transportation plan being unveiled today will feature light rail, commuter rail, dedicated lanes on interstates for buses and carpools, and more lanes for express bus traffic.

Most people who grew up with a rural mindset tend to see public transportation as an infringement on personal freedom. I grew up in cities with good public transportation systems and view them as great conveniences. I'd love to be able to hop on a train in Polk County and end up at Tampa or Orlando airports. I'm in the minority and it will take a generation to bring the majority to my point of view.
