This is Chris Taylor, editor at TBO. Here are a few tips from reporter Neil Johnson:
1.A healthy coating of car wax or polish on the hood and body will make it easier to remove love bugs.
2. Other methods include mixing window cleaner, some water and liquid dish soap.
3. Some people put a coating of baby oil on the leading edge of the hood and roof, also making it easier to remove the bugs.
Any method you use benefits from a goad soaking of the love bugs with water before you start cleaning.

This is Chris Taylor, editor at TBO, again.
I heard a great tip from a couple that comes by the News Center to detail cars now and again. They told me to rub off the lovebug guts with a wet dryer sheet. It worked well last year. I would wax the spots after I did it just to be sure I didn't do any damage.
