Highland's new Ten Oaks community features 'old-town feeling'

With the recent news that Pasco County is one of the few areas in the state that has consistently held home value, Highland Homes is proud to offer new homes in the area for would-be buyers to consider, says Kathie McDaniel, vice president of sales and marketing for the Lakeland-based home builder.

"Specifically, it was the Zephyrhills area of Pasco that was proven to hold its home value for the past two or three years,'' says McDaniel. "And of course, Highland Homes was happy to help any prospective homeowner find the home of his or her dreams.''

Since selling out of the community of the Greens at Hidden Creek in Zephyrhills, Highland is focusing on nearby Ten Oaks, with its focus on neo-traditional homes.

"We expect sales to be as brisk at Ten Oaks as they were at the Greens, if not better,'' says McDaniel. "With lower home interest rates, a more convenient location and our new elevations, we expect Ten Oaks to be a huge success.''

She adds that Ten Oaks started selling from a model center at the Greens of Hidden Creek about two months ago, and already has had eight sales. "That is just another indication of how popular this community is - to sell eight homes in two months in this economy."

The homes in Ten Oaks reflect the look of old Florida with porches, shutters and clapboard siding.

"The interesting thing is though, that even though the siding looks to be wood, the material is actually concrete,'' says McDaniel, "so it's durable and won't have the problems that wood siding is prone to.''

At Ten Oaks, Highland offers homes with the company's most popular floor plans, the vice president says. Homes are one or two stories and feature three to five bedrooms, two to three bathrooms and two- or three-car garages. They range in size from 1,250 square feet to 2,600 square feet and from the low $130,000s to more than $200,000 in price.

"We will have new designs for the front elevation, and the homes will also have covered porches, and lanais which are perfect for Florida living,'' she says. "Buyers are sure to find something that is the perfect size and the right price.''

The homes will also feature Merrilatt cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom, Whirlpool appliances, luxury bathrooms with garden tubs and walk-in showers.

She notes that Ten Oaks has an "old-town feeling with a community gazebo, sidewalks throughout the community and lots of towering old oaks."

Residents will also enjoy the walking trail through the conservation area, she says, as well as several ponds for fishing.

Highland Homes specializes in buyer financing, McDaniel says. "We offer a $99 deposit and 100 percent financing is also available to qualified buyers.

"We also have special pricing for renters, who will find payments to own a home are less than what they're paying to rent in most cases.''

The community of Ten Oaks is off Eiland Boulevard, north of Interstate 75 and Fletcher Avenue, and convenient to The Shops at Wiregrasss in Wesley Chapel.
