Report: Broncos Want At Least 2 1st-Round Picks For Cutler

ESPN is reporting the Jay Cutler soap opera could come to an end as soon as Friday with Tampa Bay still viewed as a possible destination for the Denver Broncos quarterback.

In the report, ESPN says "the Broncos have informed all interested teams that they want at least two first-round picks for Cutler and getting a quarterback in exchange is not a necessity,"

A Broncos source also told ESPN it was possible Cutler could be traded as soon as Friday.

The Washington Post is reporting that the Redskins are actively pursuing Cutler. An NFL source told the Post that the Redskins were trying to complete the deal as quickly as possible, although the Bucs and New York Jets were also reportedly interested.

Another NFL source told the Post a high-ranking Redskins official shopped quarterback Jason Campbell to another team for a second-round draft pick. The Post said the source interpreted the move as an attempt by Washington to put together a package to get Cutler.

Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik declined to speak about the Cutler rumors this morning.

Tampa Bay nearly obtained Cutler through a three-way trade in February, a move that sparked Cutler's animosity toward the Broncos.

Quarterback Luke McCown is projected to start for Tampa Bay this season, but obtaining Cutler, a Pro Bowler and former first-round pick, would be an upgrade for the Bucs.

The Broncos are asking a lot for Cutler, especially considering every team in the NFL knows he does not want to be in Denver. Detroit and Carolina are other teams who have shown interest in making a trade.

Cutler, who asked for a trade March 16, told FoxSports on Wednesday that he was surprised the Broncos were trying to complete a deal so quickly. He also said he was having second thoughts about the request, which came because of a rift between him and new Broncos coach Josh McDaniels.

"I didn't want to get traded," he said in Nashville, where he was attending an Ultimate Fighting Championship event. "That wasn't me. They had been going back and forth saying things, wanting me to be their quarterback, and then they didn't. I really didn't want this. I love Denver. I really like my teammates. I didn't want it to get this far."
