A day after helping his Wharton team win its second-straight Class 3A title, junior Michael Alford won the overall singles championship Wednesday in Altamonte Springs.
Alford needed three sets to dispatch Fort Myers High's Michael Wardell. He fought back from 2-5 in the first set to win 7-5, but then was blanked in the second, 0-6.
He won the third set 6-1.
