Former University of South Florida quarterback Marquel Blackwell has been named a program assistant at his alma mater.
Blackwell played at USF from 1999-2002 and owned virtually every school passing record when he left USF.
In 2007-08, he was head coach at Freedom High School. He was 5-15 in two seasons, but was removed from his position in January by Principal Chris Farkas.
USF opens practice Thursday at 4 p.m.
