Training camp may be winding down, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still gearing up.
That was evident Tuesday during the morning workout at One Buc Place, where the Bucs were back in pads and back on their game according to Coach Raheem Morris.
"I can't say enough about the way they practiced today,'' Morris said. "Guys like Kyle Moore and Sabby [Piscitelli], it was fun to seem them start to develop that attitude we're looking for.''
Something else fans may have seen was the return of Jermaine Phillips to safety. This is a not a permanent move. The Bucs still plan to use Phillips primarily as a linebacker, but he could see some time at safety, too.
Morris wants a physically violent team and there was no shortage of physical engagement in this workout. The defense again seemed ahead of the offense, but the offense is making strides, Morris said.
Training camp officially ends Wednesday.
Among the non-participants in the morning workout were TE Kellen Winslow (coach's decision) and DE Stylez G. White (shoulder). Winslow should be back for the afternoon workout.
Winslow and fellow TE Jerramy Stevens, who have histories of knee and ankle injures, are being limited to one workout a day to limit the strain on their joints, Morris.
Plans for the afternoon workout call for Morris to run the team through the plays the Bucs will use against Jacksonville.
