Morris insists Bucs want wins, even while building

Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris does not have any misconceptions about his team's final four games.

The Bucs are 1-11, out of the playoff hunt and four games away from ending a disappointing season. Tampa Bay's current roster will be altered in the offseason. The Glazers will evaluate the front office and coaching staff to determine if they are headed in the right direction or in need of a change next season.

Right now, Morris is focused on trying to gain momentum heading into this offseason.

"I told these guys this is your first four preseason games of what you're going to look like in 2010," Morris said. "We got four preseason games. We got eight, so this is our four going into the offseason. We're going to go out there and finish as strong as we possibly can.

"We owe it to our fans, we owe it to ourselves and want to show what this team is going to be about in the future. That's what we've been about right now, building for the future."

Morris said everybody is competing to stay with the team next year, and progress alone isn't good enough.

"The ultimate improvement is the sign when you're getting Ws and that's what we're looking for," Morris said. "You got to go out everyday and get Ws. You guys [media] keep asking what we're doing and what's going on and I got to let you know there is progress, but for the most part, we're looking for wins.

"Nobody on that team is satisfied. Nobody on that team is happy. We all want to get wins. We all want to go out there and win football games."

Bucs receiver Michael Clayton (knee) and cornerback Derrick Roberson (groin) did not participate in practice on Thursday, while tight end Kellen Winslow (knee) and linebacker Geno Hayes (hamstring) fully participated.
