Left tackle Donald Penn, a restricted free agent, has made it clear he wants a long-term deal from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won't be happy playing under a one-year tender.
That being the case, Penn may be a very disgruntled player this year.
Talks aimed at securing a new deal for Penn have been going on for months, and there hasn't been all that much progress, according to Penn's agent.
The agent doesn't seem confident a deal will get done. And while some could argue that it's early in the process, it's really not.
The Tribune reported early last season how negotiations between the sides broke down shortly after training camp ended, and from the sound of things, little has changed since.
One thing to keep in mind, though, is that new Bucs general manager Mark Dominik is the one who brought Penn to Tampa Bay. Dominik more than anyone probably wants to see Penn stay, but he won't overpay for him.
