Evan Longoria's 2009 season has brought numerous accolades for the young third baseman.
All-Star. American League Player of the Month. Silver Slugger. Gold Glover.
And now he can add on more to that: video game cover boy.
The Tampa Bay Rays' third baseman was selected by 2K Sports to grace the cover of this year's installment of the popular video game series, Major League Baseball 2K10.
He will also serve as the game's spokeperson.
"With Evan, he is one of the most fun and exciting players in the game, which helps complement the vibe we are striving for," said Greg Thomas, 2K's senior vice president of sports development.
Longoria batted .281, with 33 home runs, 113 RBIs, and 100 runs scored this season for the Rays while also displaying exceptional glovework at the hot corner.
Fans will have the opportunity to vote online until December 8 to decide the final design for the video game cover. The winning design will be announced December 11.
"Since 2K Sports is letting fans decide on the final box cover art, I'm going to have to rally my Rays teammates to ensure that my favorite takes the lead," said Longoria.
