The Tampa Bay Buccaneers might not know who their defensive coordinator will be next season, but offensive coordinator Greg Olson is under contract through 2010.
When the team promoted Olson from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator in September, it offered him a contract reflective of his new duties. Olson's deal calls for him to be with the Bucs through at least the 2010 season, though general manager Mark Dominik said the team will evaluate Olson at the end of the season, along with all coaches and players.
"This is something that was settled months ago,'' Olson said. "I did sign an extension, but I don't think that's a big deal right now. Right now I'm just trying to win a game.''
Olson became the offensive coordinator after Jeff Jagodzinski was fired on Sept. 3, 10 days before the start of the regular season. The Bucs are 29th in the league in total offense under Olson.
Earlier this week, defensive coordinator Jim Bates was demoted and head coach Raheem Morris took over play-calling duties. Bates remains on staff, but his future role is uncertain.
