Former Tampa Bay receiver Joey Galloway won't be with the Patriots this weekend when New England faces his former team in London.

The 15-year NFL veteran was released Tuesday after being inactive the past three games.

Galloway, 37, signed one-year $1.75 million deal with the Patriots after being released by the Buccaneers. He caught seven passes for 67 yards with New England.

NFL.com reported that New England released Galloway after not being able to work out a trade.

Galloway was part of veteran purge in Tampa Bay on Feb. 25, when the Bucs also cut Derrick Brooks, Warrick Dunn, Cato June and Ike Hilliard. None of the five are currently on an NFL roster.

The speedy Galloway had 13 catches for 138 yards during his final season in Tampa Bay while battling injuries. Before that, he became the first Bucs receiver to have three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.

The Patriots also cut tight end Michael Matthews, who was acquired from the New York Giants in a September trade. He played in three games for the Patriots this season as a reserve tight end and on special teams.
