Training camp continues at One Buc Place as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hold their morning practice.
Since the practice is closed to the public, our Bucs coverage team has all the action as it happens.
12:26: Coach Morris must have been happy with the effort his guys put in this morning. He skipped some of the final periods and ended practice early.
12:06: Here's an update to a previous update. Something has gotten into Arrelious Benn today. For the first time in this camp he looks like a kid worthy of a second-round draft pick.
-RC
12:05: Coach Morris won't be upset with the tempo of this workout. These guys are hitting hard, and they're not even in full pads.
-RC
12:03: The wideouts are having a great day. Preston Parker just made a leaping catch at the left sideline and tucked his feet inside the line to complete the play.
-RC
12:01: Mike Williams just showed us again why he's this team's top receiver. He just went over the middle, leaped into the air to make a catch and came down with the ball despite taking a big hit from LB Niko Koutouvides. That's star quality.
-RC
11:58: We've said it before and we'll say it again. Mike Clayton is not going away quietly. He's having another REAL good day at camp.
-RC
11:48: He hasn't been real impressive in the past but TE Ryan Purvis is having a real good day today. He actually had a decent game last Saturday as well. He may not be such an afterthought after all.
-RC
11:46: Former Bucs legend Lee Roy Selmon is at practice.
-AR
11:41: The Bucs have taken a break and yielded to the cheerleaders for a few minutes. Yes, cheerleaders. There is a sizeable crowd here today. About 500 special guests.
-RC
11:30: Today's special guest is former Bucs DB Donnie Abraham. Abraham is here with several members of his Gibbs High team.
-RC
11:25: WR Arrelious Benn might have been playing in slow motion last Saturday, but he's not playing that way today. He just beat Aqib Talib with a great inside move in a red zone drill to catch a touchdown pass.
-RC
11:22: OK, it's only a mid-week workout but RB Derrick Ward has already turned his game up a couple of notches. Seems to me he's been told that the $3.5 million he's due this year is not guranteed and that he needs to get his hind quarters in gear.
11:09: It's getting fun out here now. The No. 1 running unit is working against the top rush defense on one end of the field and the wideouts are working against the DBs at the other end.
-RC
11:09: It's probably not a good sign when you're a WR and you're asked to simulate the DB in the 3-4 defense, but that's what Mike Clayton was doing in the last drill as the offense worked against the 3-4.
-RC
11:07: The offense has moved into that 15-minute period in which it works against a 3-4 defense. The Bucs will face such defenses in three of their first four games this year.
-RC
11:05: The more we see of Greg Olson's offense the more we see the influence Jon Gruden had on him. Lots of bunch formations and shifting.
-RC
11:03: Members of Gibbs High School's football team are at practice. The next Shaun King might be in attendance.
-AR
10:59: Bucs coach Raheem Morris just lined up against WR Michael Clayton during 1-on-1 drills. Morris hung with Clayton, who eventually broke free and then dropped a very catchable pass.
-AR
10:49: No sign of Bucs TE Jerramy Stevens. Since the guy is older, it is possible he was given the morning off.
However, Bucs TEs Kellen Winslow and John Gilmore are participating in practice.
-AR
10:48: WR Mike Williams must still be feeling the effects of that "bug" that bit him. He's watching this workout from the sidelines.
-RC
10:42: The team has moved into the individual portion of practice and still there is no sign of Brian Price. It could be that he'll participate this afternoon, but the fact he continues to miss time is not good.
-RC
10:38: Word here at One Buc today is that Reggie Brown will get the start at WR in place of the injured Maurice Stovall on Saturday.
-RC
10:35: Tampa Bay's offense started off working on formations and now they are working on individual drills.
-Anwar Richardson
10:25: The Bucs are on the field and in shells (shoulder pads and helmets) today. The only notables missing at this point are DT Brian Price and CB Myron Lewis. Could be those hamstrings are acting up again.
