The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made arrangements to support the relatives of someone they consider family.
Coaches, players and administrators will fly a charter plane to South Carolina on Friday to attend the funeral of former Bucs defensive end Gaines Adams, who died Sunday morning at age 26 of cardiac arrest.
Services will be held at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley, S.C. at 1 p.m. on Friday. The church is located 20 miles from Clemson, where Adams attended college.
The Chicago Bears, to whom the Bucs traded Adams this past season, also will charter a flight for members of their organization.
The Bucs selected Adams with the fourth overall pick of the 2007 draft out of Clemson University. Adams had 13.5 sacks during his three seasons with Tampa Bay and four tackles with Chicago.
Viewing and visitation are scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Specialized Foster Homes Services at 1201 E. Cambridge Avenue, Greenwood, S.C. 29646. Cards and letters can be sent to Linda and Gaines Adams Sr. at 720 Montague Ave., Greenwood SC 29649.
