The Go-Go's have canceled their summer farewell tour, apparently leaving the Tampa Bay Rays without a postgame concert for the July 10 game against the Cleveland Indians.
The band canceled its "Happily Ever After" tour after guitarist Jane Wiedlin injured her knee during a hiking fall in Northern California, publicist Jenny Bendel confirmed. Wiedlin is scheduled for ACL surgery and will need up to a year to recover.
The Rays' plans are still up in the air.
"We only just learned of their cancellation this morning and at this point are exploring what options may be available to us to ensure our fans have the best possible experience that night," a spokesman for the Rays said Thursday.
The Go-Go's, known for 1980s hits such as "We Got the Beat" and "Our Lips Are Sealed," announced tour plans in March. The group, which first disbanded in 1985, features Wiedlin, singer Belinda Carlisle, guitarist Charlotte Caffey, bassist Kathy Valentine and drummer Gina Schock.
"The band is heartbroken and hopes their fans will send best wishes for Jane's speedy recovery," a post on Wiedlin's website read.
Country star Dierks Bentley is scheduled to perform after this Saturday's Rays game against the Florida Marlins at Tropicana Field.
