University of South Florida men's basketball players Toarlyn Fitzpatrick and Mike Burwell not only didn't leave a tip but, according to Tampa police, the pair of freshmen didn't pay their bill at a Tampa Village Inn restaurant late Wednesday night.
According to a police report, two plainclothes officers witnessed Fitzpatrick and Burwell walk out on their $29.91 bill at the Village Inn located at 215 N. Dale Mabry Highway.
Each was arrested and faces a charge of obtaining food with intent to defraud, a misdemeanor.
USF coach Stan Heath said he is looking into the incident.
"At this point, we're gathering information, and if this happened, it is inappropriate behavior for players in our program," Heath said. "After gathering all of the facts, we will immediately take the appropriate actions."
Burwell was redshirted last season, but Fitzpatrick, a former King High standout, hit perhaps the biggest shot of the season when he nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime at Providence. The Bulls went on to win, igniting a school-record four-game Big East winning streak.
