Josh Freeman was back leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense in practice on Thursday.
Given the day Wednesday to rest his fractured right thumb, Freeman led the offense and threw the ball without the aid of a bandage or splint during a workout Thursday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.
"Josh looked good,'' said Bucs coach Raheem Morris, who decided to give his team a break from the heat and workout in the comfort controlled environment of the Trop.
"He was out there full go, full speed, full bore - ready to go. The plan was to get him to practice three times this week, (including) once with the pads and once with the helmet - full tempo and full speed - and that's what we got.''
Freeman injured his right thumb nine plays into the second preseason game against Kansas City on Sept. 21 and didn't return to practice until Tuesday, when he worked out in pads and a helmet.
Freeman was limited to some handoffs and "mental reps'' on Wednesday, but worked out with his helmet on what Morris called a full-speed, full-tempo workout Thursday. Freeman is expected to run the Friday walkthrough as well, Morris said.
