The FC Tampa Bay Rowdies' playoff hopes ended Sunday after their 3-0 loss to the Montreal Impact.
The Rowdies (6-11-11) fell behind 2-0 in the first half on goals by Tony Donatelli in the 10th minute and Ali Gerba in stoppage time. Gerba's second goal of the match late in the 82nd minute ended the Rowdies' hopes for a comeback.
The victory enabled Montreal (10-11-7) to sweep the two-game series, including a 2-1 win June 12 in Tampa.
The Rowdies play their final two matches of the season at home, starting with Friday night's match-up with NSC Minnesota.
