Former Buc Player Arrested For DUI

TAMPA --

TAMPA - A former Buccaneers player was arrested this morning for driving under the influence.

According to an arrest affidavit:

Tampa police stopped Charles Louis Gessner near Tampa Street and Kennedy Boulevard for driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

Gessner admitted to drinking three bottles of beer.

Breath tests showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.222 and 0.227. Florida law presumes a driver to be intoxicated at 0.08.

Gessner, 26, was charged with driving under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor, jail records state.

Jeff Kamis, the team's director of public relations, said Gessner was signed Oct. 31 to the active roster and released by Nov. 12. He played in the Nov. 4 game against the Arizona Cardinals, Kamis said.

Gessner played football and lacrosse at Brown University. He has been on the practice squads for the Bucs, the New York Jets and New England Patriots.
