Tracking down any member of the Buccaneers triumvirate of general manager Mark Dominik, scouting director Dennis Hickey and coach Raheem Morris has been easy to do here at the Senior Bowl this week.
All you had to do was go to wherever the defensive linemen were. One or more of those three was usually there, on the field, getting an up close look at what the 2010 senior draft class has to offer in the way of pass rushers.
No surprise there. The Bucs biggest need this offseason is for a dominant right defensive end capable of getting to the opponent's passer and complimenting unleashing tackle Gerald McCoy's skill set.
And while this year's class of pass rushers is indeed a good one - something Dominik predicted it would be a year ago - the Bucs are not committing to taking a defensive end with their first pick, which is 20th overall.
"There are a lot of positions that we feel like we can upgrade at and certainly need more depth at,'' Dominik said while watching a workout at Ladd Peebles Stadium on Wednesday. "So I wouldn't pigeonhole us just yet.''
It's hard not to. After all, there's a lot of commonality between the Bucs greatest need and the draft's greatest strength this year. Even Dominik had to admit that much.
"As you see the names and you're able to see some of them practice and then you hear about the guys who you haven't even had a chance to see yet because they're juniors, it is a heck of a group,'' Dominik said.
"But (in rebuilding this team) we started off by attacking the offense, and we feel like that's put us in a good solid spot. So it's always hard not to want to get more toys and tools for (quarterback) Josh Freeman, because of how important it is to keep him consistent and upright and healthy."
