University of Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn turned down an offer to take the same job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to a report by the Gainesville Sun.
Sun staff writer Pat Dooley said Quinn interviewed with the Bucs, “but decided to remain in Gainesville as Will Muschamp's defensive chief.”
Quinn left the NFL to join Muschamp's staff before last season. He was the defensive line coach for the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 and previously coached with the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers.
Florida returns 10 of 11 starters from a team that struggled to a 7-6 record last season, Muschamp’s first at the helm.
Tampa Bay hired head coach Greg Schiano from Rutgers University on Jan. 26, but has yet to name any staff members. The team’s entire coaching staff was fired on Jan. 2 with former head coach Raheem Morris.
