Last Year's Loss To LSU Was Heartbreaking

Gators Practice Report

Last year's loss to LSU was likely the most heartbreaking of Florida's four losses. The Gators lead the entire way until a 2-yard rushing touchdown by Jacob Hester left them facing a 28-24 deficit with
1:09 remaining.

Florida allowed LSU to convert on five fourth downs a season ago and it's something the coaching staff won't let the players forget.

"It's good because you can show it to them and say 'Look guys, this cannot happen again,' " he said. "You're able to throw that game in their face.

"You're able to throw Georgia in their face and the Michigan game. It's playing in the weight room, it's playing in the locker room, it's playing in the hallway."

In the first three games this season, Florida's run defense appeared to be stout, allowing just 72.3 yards per game. In its last two contests, against Mississippi and Arkansas, who feature less than dominant rush attacks, the Gators have allowed 140.5 yards per game.

Things will get much more difficult Saturday as Florida will be charged with slowing the Tigers' hefty 233-pound RB Charles Scott. Scott has 535 yards this season and has rushed for at least 100 yards in each of LSU's four games.

"He's a great back," defensive line coach Dan McCarney said. "I mean he is a great back. He was a tremendous player last year, we looked at last year's game and last year's films last season and what a tremendous back he was."

ETC: Percy Harvin practiced Thursday and is expected to play. Kestahn Moore isn't 100 percent but will play Saturday, Coach Urban Meyer said.
