If the Jesuit football team thought Chamberlain senior quarterback Dontae Aycock was going to be its main concern for Friday's preseason classic, they were sadly mistaken.
Senior running back Kenny Allen exploded with 210 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Chiefs in a 35-20 win over the host Tigers.
"My line was blocking hard and it all just worked for me," said Allen, who scored his first touchdown on a 90-yard play in the second quarter. "They were hitting Dontae hard. They thought he would get the 200 yards.
Aycock had 120 yards on the ground with two rushing touchdowns, but completed just five of 13 passes for 50 yards.
Jesuit closed the gap to 28-20 in the third quarter before Allen sealed the game with his second touchdown in the fourth quarter. Senior receiver Eric McGriff led the way with three touchdown catches, an interception and a 63 yard kick return. Senior quarterback Ryan James finished with 110 passing yards and three touchdowns.
"We looked really good," McGriff said. "They were third in the county and we hung with them. We scored near the red zone and if we can keep that up, we'll be really good."
