Durant could not contain Andre Booker, and the Cougars' playoff hopes took a big hit.
Booker ran for 224 yards and three scores as Sarasota Riverview beat Durant 27-17 Friday night in a Class 6A-District 6 game at the Ram Bowl.
The Rams (5-3, 2-0) control their destiny in the district. Durant needs to beat Riverview and have the Rams beat city rival Sarasota.
The Cougars (4-4, 0-2) managed just 129 yards of offense, but used two early stops to take a 14-0 lead. After a big punt return by John Hicks, Ryan Rice scored from the 2.
After Durant stopped the Rams on fourth down, Hicks ran 42 yards to make it 14-0.
Booker went 80 yards on the next play from scrimmage, then added a 42-yard run on the next possession.
After the teams traded field goals, a 38-yard Dan Grochowski field goal with 10:01 to play in the fourth gave the Rams the lead for good.
Ninety seconds later, Booker added a 29-yard scoring run to close it out.
