Rodney Johnson, Hillsborough High's leading rusher last season with 802 yards and eight touchdowns on 89 carries, made a verbal commitment to Florida A&M, Terriers running backs coach Alonso Ashwood said Saturday.
The 5-foot-8, 176-pound Johnson also was a reliable receiver for Hillsborough, catching 10 balls for 118 yards and one TD. He also had offers from Bethune-Cookman, Murray State and Youngstown State.
Meanwhile, a day after Alonso QB C.J. Bennett committed to South Alabama during a visit to the school, Plant's leading scorer, T.J. Glover, gave his verbal commitment to the Jaguars. He chose South Alabama over Western Michigan, Georgia Southern, Delaware and Towson.
Glover led the state championship team with 109 points last season and was the second-leading rusher for the Panthers. As a senior starter, he had 86 carries for 938 yards and 11 touchdowns and also 21 receptions for 348 yards and six touchdowns.
